Role Title: Research Intern, The Importance of Social Support and Inclusion for Population Health
Internship Period: Summer (November - December)
ConnectGroups is the Peak Body organisation in WA for Peer Support and the voice for over 700 Peer Support Groups across the state. Support Groups allow people dealing with stressful life situations to share their experiences and to offer emotional and practical support to one another.
The role of the intern is to conduct research and compile a report on the importance of social support and inclusion for population health. This research will contribute to ConnectGroups' ability to demonstrate the essential role of Support Groups as an adjunct to mental health and primary health care services, and will elevate its advocacy activities.
Since 1983, ConnectGroups has provided practical assistance to both new and established groups to support their effective management and role in the community. ConnectGroups promotes the philosophy and practice of peer support throughout Western Australia. Fostering empowerment among Support Groups allows people dealing with stressful life problems and situations to share their experiences and to offer emotional and practical support to one another.
