Role Title: Research Intern - Sign Project 1

Internship Period: Winter (June - July)

Location: Gingin/Work from Home

Role Description

Beach Emergency Number (BEN) Signs are in place up and down the coastline of the Shire of Gingin. The Shire would like to utilise the BEN poles to deliver more information about the immediate area (local history, tourism tips, etc) using a QR Code for community to access this information. The intern can choose what local information they would like to research and in what medium (video, maps and infographics, photography, etc.). This information will be presented via the QR Code. Consideration must also include resourcing constraints and the information to be sustainable on a long term basis (e.g. information does not have to be updated every couple of years) and accessibility of information (e.g. audio and caption on any videos).

The Shire of Gingin is a predominantly rural area located 84 kilometres north of Perth and its district falls within the central coastal region of the Wheatbelt in Western Australia. It encompasses an area of 3,223 km2 and is home to a population of approximately 5,000 residents. There are five townships within the Shire being Gingin, Guilderton, Lancelin, Ledge Point and Seabird. The Shire has five overarching objectives that have been defined through community input: Community Wellbeing, Natural Environment, Infrastructure & Development, Economic Development and Governance.
