Role Title: Research intern: Qualitative data transcription and data analysis support
Organisation: Telethon Kids Institute (TKI)
Internship Period: Winter (June - July)
There is overwhelming evidence that the first four years of life from conception is the most critical phase of the lifespan. While a healthy and nurturing start to life can optimise a child’s developmental trajectory and support them to reach their full potential, a poor start can undermine their health, development and learning and have negative life-long consequences.
The successful intern will have the opportunity to work alongside the Evaluation of the Early Years Initiative team at the Telethon Kids Institute. Established in 2018, the Early Years Initiative (EYI) is a ten-year partnership between the Western Australian State Government (through the Departments of Communities, Education and Health) and philanthropy (through the Minderoo Foundation), with Telethon Kids Institute engaged as the EYI’s Evidence Partner to conduct an external evaluation. This intern will act as a Research Assistant working with the evaluation team: supporting the evaluation team with the transcription of interviews: supporting qualitative data analysis; and other tasks associated with data collection, data management and report writing.
The Telethon Kids Institute is based within the Perth Children’s Hospital, and is one of the largest, and most successful medical research institutes in Australia, comprising a dedicated and diverse team of around 1,000 staff, students and honoraries. We've created a bold blueprint that brings together community, researchers, practitioners, policy makers and funders, who share our vision to improve the health and wellbeing of children through excellence in research.
