Community Access Program Intern

Role Title: Community Access Program Intern

Organisation: Perth Festival

Internship Period: Winter (June - July)

Location: Crawley

Role Description

The Community Access Program Intern will work in the People, Culture & Community Team
Perth Festival recognises that many barriers prevent community from accessing our program and attending events. With a view to attracting and retaining new audiences, we recognise the many challenges audiences face – cost of tickets, transport to venues, familiarity with venues, performance times and stigmas surrounding events, e.g. ‘the Festival is not for people like me’. The Community Access Program seeks to address these barriers and meet the needs of the community.

Organisation Mission

The Festival was born out of The University of Western Australia’s annual summer school entertainment nights as a ‘festival for the people’ on 3 January 1953.
Since then, Perth Festival has seeded and cultivated decades of cultural growth as the oldest arts festival in the Southern Hemisphere. It is Australia’s premier curated multi-arts festival and one of the greatest in the world, known for commissioning major new works, celebrating the unique qualities of Perth and engaging diverse audiences. Every glorious summer the best artists from Western Australia and the world stand shoulder to shoulder in creative unity within the community.
