Role Description

The Department of Education, Skills and Employment contributes to Australia's economic prosperity and social well being by creating opportunities and driving better outcomes for people, through education, skills and employment pathways.
The intern will be embedded in the Integrated Data Analytics team of the Data Analytics Branch. They will experience a range of tasks common to the Australian Public Service. The primary task for the internship will be to assist in conducting statistical data analysis for the Benefits of Educational Attainment research project. This project seeks to use large integrated government datasets to showcase the social, health and welfare benefits of education and training for Australians and Australian society as a whole. Analysis will be conducted in the secure Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Data Lab environment. It is a requirement that interns be familiar with the R programming language with a strong preference that they have completed a unit in second year statistics or a unit equivalent computer science or data science unit working with data using R.
