Role Title: Social Media Intern
Organisation: Noongar Mia Mia
Internship Period: Summer (November - December)
You'll be managing social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram) for Noongar Mia Mia, an Aboriginal-owned-and-operated not-for-profit housing and homelessness services provider. We're the only organisation that does quite what we do, and we want to highlight our unique and valuable much-needed services providing housing pathways grounded in an Aboriginal cultural framework, as well as the critical need for the work we do.
We have some social media presence (particularly on Facebook) and are seeking to grow our reach, and awareness of what we do and our cause, with the goal of becoming fundraising-ready as well as sharing our "why" to potential partners, donors and sponsors. You'll be primarily working in our office, with our (predominantly Aboriginal) staff including caseworkers and cultural housing experts.
Our mission is to contribute towards socioeconomic inclusion of First Nations people in Western Australia by setting the right foundations to thrive. We create pathways for First Nations people in the Southwest of Western Australia from homelessness to home ownership in a respectful, culturally-appropriate fashion aligned with the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, through a whole-of-person wraparound model of cultural housing, property management, psychosocial support, advocacy and collaboration, acknowledging the complexity of factors leading to Indigenous homelessness. We embed Aboriginal culture into all we do, and amplify the voices of our mob – nothing for us, without us.
