On Tuesday 16 August 2022 the McCusker Centre for Citizenship Student Advisory Committee hosted a panel discussion for UWA students exploring Active Citizenship in Context: Disability Advocacy, Empowerment & Respect.
We were honoured to have the Australian Human Rights Commission Disability Discrimination Commissioner Ben Gauntlett join us virtually from Sydney on our panel, alongside Specialist Support Coordinator Kate Swan of Ark Support Coordination and Liz Sullivan, Manager of UniAccess at The University of Western Australia.
In an engaging discussion led by Student Advisory Committee Co-chair Natalie Fretton, our panellists spoke to their experiences working in disability advocacy and covered complex topics on diversity and inclusion, including policy and funding.
Thank you to our panellists for sharing your time, expertise and passion for disability advocacy.
