Project Intern (Specialist Child Protection Unit Advocate for Children in Care)

Role Title: Project Intern (Specialist Child Protection Unit Advocate for Children in Care)

Organisation: Department of Communities

Internship Period: Semester 2 (July – October)

Location: Fremantle

Role Description

This role is to work on the Viewpoint Redevelopment Project.
Viewpoint is a tool for capturing the voices of children and young people in out-of-home care, and serves as an online feedback system designed to assess and enhance the experiences and wellbeing of children in out-of-home care. This platform allows children aged five years and older to share their views on various aspects of their care, including their safety, emotional health, and personal relationships. In its current format, Viewpoint is no longer fit for purpose as a mechanism for engaging with young people in care about their experiences. This project involves updating the existing Viewpoint system to address its current limitations. Enhancements include improving question formats to be more culturally sensitive, accessible, engaging and inclusive of various disabilities. Stakeholders include children and young people in out-of-home care, children with a lived experience, care teams and specialised internal teams. This is a project with the capacity to improve outcomes for Children in Care, amplifying their voices, and to improve work processes for Case Managers and front line teams.
