The City of Swan is a local government authority headquartered in Midland. The City has an in-house legal team that delivers compliance services across the organisation. The City is seeking interns with a legal background/experience who will assist the legal team to record legislative compliance obligations in an existing database.
The database captures the City's obligations under State and Commonwealth legislation and is monitored on a quarterly basis. The interns will be responsible for reviewing specific pieces of legislation, summarising the compliance obligation and capturing other information such as the due date for the obligation. The work is critical to ensuring the database is up-to-date and accurately reflects the City's statutory obligations.
In addition, the City of Swan is implementing its privacy framework to comply with the newly enacted Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024. The privacy framework is constituted by policies and procedures, privacy management plan, information asset registers, and staff training and engagement.
The intern will assist with the implementation of the privacy framework, alongside their work supporting legislative compliance. The intern will interact with members of the legal team and be supervised by the Legal Services Co-ordinator.
The City of Swan is a local government area of Western Australia. It is in the eastern metropolitan region of Perth and includes the Swan Valley and 42 suburbs. It is centred approximately 20 km north-east of the Perth central business district.
