Role Title: Events, Marketing and Research Intern
Organisation: Victoria Park Community Centre
Internship Period: Semester 2 (July – October)
Location: East Vic Park
The Vic Park Community Centre offers a supportive, lively and passionate work environment for an intern who is eager to get hands on experience in a small (but mighty) Not for Profit. Vic Park Community centre provides tools and tech to support work delivery and access to workshops they are training and hosting.
The intern will assist with some data entry (inputting feedback) and research tasks, possibly on the use of AI and automations for building efficiencies in work flow. The intern will also support marketing efforts like file preparations, social media tasks and flyering. Other tasks include day-to-day support with event preparation and tidy-up.
Vic Park Community Centre is a little place with a big heart, a neighbourhood hub where people can collaborate, imagine and thrive. It is located next to Macmillan Park, and offers a regular program of activities for all ages as well as spaces for hire to host your own events.
The Centre holds: a weekly multicultural playgroup, local initiatives, creative workshops, kids after school clubs in music-maths-languages and more - a range of life wide education sessions such as parenting seminars, sustainability at home and mental health training. Cultural meals, dance classes and a variety of diverse meet ups, and social groups - supporting a caring and connected community.
We are a proud, thirty-year-old organisation with a uniquely creative slant. The staff, board and volunteers have a broad range experience across social impact, education, the arts, participatory culture, community organising and youth work. As a not for profit, all our income is reinvested in the running of the Centre and our consistent fundraising allows us to offer special programs such as our early literature Noongar language and STEM club.
Our actions and planning are all informed by a ‘Asset Based Community Development’ approach where focus is put on nurturing who and what is already here to its fullest potential for the benefit of the wider neighbourhood. Throughout the year, we work to establish authentic and intentional connections locally and our program often includes satellite projects and excursions ran through these partnerships.
VPCC is generously supported by the Department of Communities, the Town of Vic Park, Hannah Beazley MLA and various private and governmental schemes. Our recent rebrand was made possible through a grant from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
