Role Title: Environmental Sustainability Intern: Climate Risk Data Review

The intern will support the EMHS Sustainability Development Unit (Corporate Services and Contract Management) to review and catalogue publicly documented climate risk data held by local government authorities (City/Shire Councils) across the EMHS catchment, including Perth metropolitan and outer-urban LGAs such as Kalamunda, Mundaring, Armadale, Gosnells and Serpentine Jarrahdale. The intern will locate each council's official climate risk register, climate change strategy or adaptation plan (where publicly available) and extract documented, source-verified data — rather than generating new estimates — into a structured register. This dataset will directly inform EMHS's own Local Climate Risk Assessment Methodology, reducing duplication of effort and confusion between council-level and EMHS-level findings for shared geographic areas. The intern will work primarily with the Sustainability Project Officer, and may liaise with council sustainability or planning officers to confirm data currency. The role suits a student with strong research and data organisation skills and an interest in local government policy, climate adaptation or public health planning.
