Role Title: Wildlife Health and Biosecurity Intern

Internship Period: Semester 2 (July – October)
Location: Bibra Lake
The intern will support WA Wildlife's staff with the ongoing H5 Bird Flu preparedness and response, while also contributing to broader wildlife health projects and research initiatives. The role involves collaboration with veterinarians, rehabilitation staff and external stakeholders to strengthen wildlife disease preparedness and response capacity.
Key responsibilities include:
• Assisting with the development of H5 Bird Flu training resources, standard operating procedures, signage and educational materials for staff, volunteers and the public.
• Supporting the planning and establishment of biosecure wildlife care facilities and temporary rehabilitation infrastructure where required.
• Assisting with wildlife health data entry, record management and collation of surveillance information to support ongoing disease monitoring.
• Contributing to the continuation of previous intern projects, including wildlife health investigations, data analysis and resource development.
• Assisting with the preparation of communication materials, reports and guidance documents for the wildlife rehabilitation sector.
This role provides practical experience in wildlife disease preparedness, veterinary project management, biosecurity planning and applied wildlife health research, with a strong focus on developing resources that support both WA Wildlife and the broader wildlife rehabilitation and veterinary sector.
