Role Title: Research Intern – 3D Facial Imaging in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder

Organisation: Child and Adolescent Health Service

Internship Period: Summer (November - December)

Location: Nedlands

Role Description

The intern will undertake a structured literature or scoping review examining the use of 3D imaging and stereoscopic photography to assess the sentinel facial features associated with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).

It will also compare the advantages and limitations of 3D/stereoscopic imaging with conventional 2D photography for facial measurement. Particular consideration will be given to the applicability of existing evidence and reference datasets to Australian Aboriginal children and young people, including evidence gaps relevant to future research. Project deliverables: - Documented literature or scoping review search strategy - Evidence extraction matrix covering imaging method, population, facial features assessed, measurement methodology, reference dataset and validation approach - Comparison of 3D/stereoscopic versus 2D facial imaging - Evidence-gap analysis, particularly regarding the applicability of existing reference data to Australian Aboriginal children and young people - Concise final report with recommendations for future research - 10-minute presentation to the research/project team
