Role Description

Waroona Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander Corporation is a grassroots 100% Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation in the Peel region. We require help in establishing the governance of our organisation to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and sustainability.
This role will involve: - Organisational Governance Review: The intern will assist in a comprehensive review of the corporation’s existing governance structures, policies, and procedures. This involves analysing current practices against best-practice standards for not-for-profit and Aboriginal corporations. - Governance Framework Development: Support the creation of a new, robust Governance Framework. This includes drafting key documents such as board charters, codes of conduct, and terms of reference. The goal is to improve accountability, transparency, and decision-making processes. - Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate discussions and gather input from key stakeholders, including board members, staff, and community elders, to ensure the new framework is culturally appropriate and aligns with community needs. - Research and Reporting: Conduct research on relevant legislation and best practices. Prepare detailed reports and presentations for the board on project progress and findings.
