Role Title: Food Pantry Intern, UWA Student Assist
Organisation: UWA Guild Volunteering
Internship Period: Semester 2 (July – October)
Location: Crawley
The intern will support the UWA Guild Student Assist team in developing and executing a communications campaign aimed at securing ongoing donations for the UWA Food Pantry. A key focus of the role will be building partnerships with both local businesses and major companies (such as supermarkets and large food retailers) to reduce food waste and ensure a reliable supply of essential items for students in need.
The intern will help identify and approach potential partners—including local bakeries, IGA, Spudshed, Woolworths, and other national brands—highlighting the mutual benefits of collaboration. These may include public recognition through Guild media channels, opportunities for corporate social responsibility, and increased brand visibility within the UWA community.
Working closely with staff, students, and external stakeholders, the intern will gain hands-on experience in strategic outreach, stakeholder communication, campaign planning, and event support (e.g., donor-sponsored morning teas). The role contributes directly to student wellbeing, while also strengthening the Guild’s external relationships.
A partnership between UWA, the Guild, and Volunteering WA, the Guild Volunteering venture is living proof that volunteering is of benefit to the student experience and complements the teaching and learning objectives of the University. Guild Volunteering connects students to meaningful volunteering opportunities with life-changing organisations, both on-campus and in the wider community.
