Role Title: Systematic Review Intern
Organisation: North Metropolitan Health Service
Internship Period: Summer (November - December)
Location: King Edward Memorial Hospital - Subiaco
King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) is the specialist tertiary centre for abortion care in Western Australia, seeing complex and later gestation patients. KEMH performs both medical and surgical abortions. The Pregnancy Choices and Abortion Care (PCAC) team is made up of nurses, midwives and doctors, with support from allied health services, and they provide support to women as they access abortion care at KEMH.
A systematic review is currently underway exploring 'Global patient outcomes and experiences of later gestational abortion care'. The intern would have the opportunity to learn how to conduct a systematic review that has been driven by a clinical research question from within a service. The intern would be responsible for supporting the extraction of data from the full text review and translating that into a format for publication under the supervision of a research team within the service. Opportunity to support the translation of those findings into presentation format to share locally and nationally may also be incorporated.
Established in 2016, North Metropolitan Health Services (NMHS) is committed to providing excellent health care for our patients and our communities.
As one of the largest health services in WA, we provide a comprehensive range of adult specialist medical, surgical, mental health and obstetric services.
