Research Intern - Housing Options for Seniors

Role Title: Research Intern - Housing Options for Seniors

Organisation: Advocare

Internship Period: Winter (June - July)

Location: Victoria Park

Role Description

Advocare is seeking an intern to undertake a research project exploring housing options for older Western Australians. The project looks at a range of accommodation types including home ownership, private and public rentals, retirement villages, and informal arrangements such as living with family.
A key focus of the project is developing a practical Housing Decision-Making Framework to help older people better understand and compare their housing options, including costs, safety, legal considerations, and future needs. The internship will involve undertaking desktop research, reviewing existing literature with a seniors lens, mapping housing options and services, and contributing to the development of simple, practical resources for older people. The project also aims to identify gaps in the current housing system that can increase the risk of housing insecurity, and to support recommendations for improvement. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in social research, policy, and ageing and housing issues in a meaningful, real-world context.
