Quality and Safeguarding Intern

Role Title: Quality and Safeguarding Intern

Organisation: Foster Care Association WA

Internship Period: Summer (November - December)

Location: Balcatta

Role Description

The Foster Care Association supports and advocates for foster carers across the sector. We have observed an increase in allegations made against foster carers, particularly following the introduction of the Reportable Conduct Scheme.
This project aims to collect and analyse data relating to allegations made against foster carers, including the nature of allegations, processes followed, outcomes, and geographical trends. The objective is to identify any emerging patterns, assess the consistency of investigation and decision-making processes, and better understand carers' experiences throughout the allegation management process. The findings will help inform advocacy efforts, promote fair and consistent practices, and support the development of recommendations that strengthen procedural safeguards and protections for foster carers while maintaining child safety and wellbeing.
