Role Title: Marketing and Communications Intern — Academic Skills & Student Experience team
Organisation: UWA Office of Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic)
Internship Period: Summer (November - December)
Location: Crawley
The Academic Skills & Student Experience Team (ASSET) at UWA supports students to make the transition into university study and develop the skills necessary for successful study. The team delivers workshops, drop-in sessions, individual consultations and online learning resources covering a wide variety of academic literacies. The Centre works across all schools and supports students at every level of study, from commencing undergraduates to postgraduate coursework students.
The Centre's services are free, well established and consistently valued by the students who use them, but a substantial number of students complete their degrees without ever learning that the services exist. Students who are least likely to have prior experience of Australian higher education, including students from equity backgrounds, students who speak English as an additional language and students who are first in their family to attend university, are frequently the students least likely to hear about academic support through informal channels.
The role will develop a marketing and communications strategy for the team, compile a inventory of promotional channels available across the UWA campuses, and produce a set of adaptable templates and ready-to-use materials. The intended outcome is that the team begins Semester 1, 2027 with a documented strategy, a clear understanding of where and how it can promote its services, and a set of materials prepared in advance of orientation.
To provide world-class education, research and community engagement for the advancement of the prosperity and welfare of our communities.
