Role Description

EMHS Aboriginal Staff On-Call Pilot Project aim is to close the gap in the health journey of Aboriginal patient accessing care at Royal Perth Hospital by providing support, information and advocacy to the clinician, the patient and family at the time of contact and care. The goal will be working with clinician to engage with Aboriginal patients, individuals, families, and communities to keep them safe, and ensure no harm or neglect is occurring, and to partner with individuals, families, communities, health professionals to ensure the highest quality care and services possible. To help identify ways in which communication can be provided and received considering cultural sensitivity, cultural understanding, and cultural empathy, all of which are key drivers influencing Aboriginal people's access to health services.
The intern will work specifically on the foundational documents for the implementation of the service including assisting with the secretariat requirements of Project Team and Working Group under the guidance of the Director Aboriginal Health. This will entail writing notes, setting up meetings, research on relevant data sources (guided by Data Innovation Team), developing EMHS templates based on current ASOC in the Goldfields and evaluation approaches. The intern will, as part of induction gain understanding of the business of EMHS and specifically Aboriginal health and link with Project Management team. The intern will join the Aboriginal Health Strategy team.
