Evaluation Intern: The (virtual) Village Review

Role Title: Evaluation Intern: The (virtual) Village Review

Organisation: Pingelly Community Resource Centre on behalf of Pingelly Somerset Alliance Inc.

Internship Period: Summer (November - December)

Location: Pingelly

Role Description

The Pingelly (virtual) Village was launched in August 2022. Older people get similar benefits to belonging to a normal lifestyle village or a retirement village but do not leave their own homes and do not pay to join. The Village supports older people living in their own homes, in their own small, rural community to age well, focussing on maintaining a healthy body, active mind, friendships, belonging to community, help with small and large tasks. The Village concierge advocates for and connect members to local funded services. The Village is built on existing community assets, natural networks & local business.
The Village has about 260 registered members and The Village concierge is based at the Pingelly Community Resource Centre (PCRC). The concierge welcomes and maintains contact with members, promotes and supports village activities - acts as a social connector, receives feedback for and from individual members, engineers place-based solutions - for respite, dementia friendly options, palliative care and culturally appropriate services. It also facilitates members linkage to services - commonwealth, state, other service providers, local workers to provide care and support for people to stay at home until end of life. The efficiency, effectiveness and relevance of The Village to assist older people to age positively in their own homes needs to be reviewed after three years of operation. The intern will assist to design, implement, analyse and interpret the review.
