Role Title: Local Government Future Workforce and Skills Planning Research Intern

• This internship focuses on a desktop study examining future workforce and skills planning within the Local Government sector, with a particular emphasis on the role of examining the shills shift for the future, and the role of apprenticeships and traineeships. The intern will review survey outcomes, research existing workforce development models, and analyse current approaches being implemented across Local Government agencies. The aim is to identify effective practices, gaps, and opportunities for strengthening pathways into Local Government careers.
• The intern will also engage directly with sector professionals to gather insights and feedback, helping to inform recommendations for sustainable workforce planning. This role would suit a student interested in workforce development, public sector management, or education and training policy, who is keen to contribute to practical strategies supporting Local Government capability and growth.
Local Government Professionals Australia WA is the peak representative body for local government professionals in Western Australia.
