Organisation: Office of the Information Commissioner
Internship Period: Semester 1 (February - May)
Location: Perth CBD
Get a taste of Government! You'll report to the Communications and Engagement Coordinator at the Office of the Information Commissioner, based in the Perth CBD.
Main projects will include helping implement an organisation wide rebrand and reviewing the website to suggest improvements based on consumer behaviour and best practice.
With the help of the team, you'll work through what it means to create a new identity for the Office (new brand established in December 2025). You'll gain experience implementing this internally, and across all public facing channels.
The Western Australian Freedom of Information Act 1992 (the FOI Act) gives people a right of access to documents held by most State Government agencies, Ministers and local government. Together, these bodies are called “agencies” in the FOI Act. The position of Information Commissioner was established under the FOI Act. The Commissioner is an independent officer who is directly accountable to Parliament. The main function of the Commissioner is to deal with complaints about the decisions of agencies in respect of FOI applications. Another function is to ensure that both agencies and the public are aware of their respective responsibilities and rights under the FOI Act.
