Role Title: Research Intern, Herbarium Collections Management

The Western Australian Herbarium, part of the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, houses and preserves the State's 860,000+ botanical collections. This internship will introduce a student to international best practices associated with the collection, management, and curation (naming) of botanical specimens, and the importance of the collections and data for conservation and other scientific research. The intern will be assisting with the preparation/mounting and housing of botanical collections; data entry; specimen imaging other management duties as required for a curation project.
The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) brings together the Parks and Wildlife Service, Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority, Zoological Parks Authority (Perth Zoo), Rottnest Island Authority, Conservation and Parks Commission, Swan River Trust (Swan Canning Riverpark) and Biodiversity and Conservation Science.
