Role Title: KEMH At Risk Data Base Project Intern
Organisation: North Metropolitan Health Service
Internship Period: Summer (November - December)
Location: Subiaco
We have 20 years of data – most of which sits de-identified - however I have been advised we could have it reidentified and hold it in Redcap.
I am seeking assistance to future proof my data by
• Storing it using redcap – I have a trial data base however it needs to be finessed and possibly have smart logic added to it.
• I have created a data dictionary which sits alongside the current data collected
• We collect data on anywhere between 340 – 370 families each year of which 80% are open cases with the Dept of Child Protection
• We participate in Prebirth Planning with the Dept of Child Protection and this has seen a reduction in the number of newborns entering statutory care at birth.
• My social work team are passionate advocates for the First 1000 days and early intervention changing life trajectories. Very few newborns entering care at birth return to their family. Our long term project is to use the data to Data Linkage to look at the outcomes of those newborns who did not enter Statutory Care at Birth . Did Social work assessment and interventions in the antenatal period enhance their lives? We anticipate the future data linkage matches would include
o Entering Care of Child Protection Post birth
o Child Health Follow up - milestones
o Immunisation follow up
o School Attendance - enrolment in early childhood education
o School Dental follow up
o Emergency Department attendance.
