Role Title: Safety Subsidy Scheme Intern
Organisation: City of Rockingham
Internship Period: Summer (November - December)
Location: Rockingham
The City of Rockingham offers a Safety Subsidy (https://rockingham.wa.gov.au/community/community-support/low-income-subsidy-scheme) to eligible residents to install items to their home to increase their perception of safety. Currently the main method of evaluating this program is by a survey to approved recipients. Whilst that does provide some data on perception of safety it can be greatly improved.
This project is to review the scheme over the past 3 years (2022-current) of safety applications and to calculate the broader positive economic impact of the program Eg: total applicant spend verses reimbursement amount, where the spend has occurred (supporting local business) online etc, types of products installed etc. Further, we would like to explore some demographic profiling of applicants such as suburb, male, female, type of concession applied. Once the data is all collated, we would like to create info graphics of the evaluation year on year. If time permits, we would welcome the student to provide suggestion of other ways to evaluate this program along with suggestions to improve the application process for both the applicant and administrator using the approved city systems.
The City of Rockingham is a local government area in the far southern suburbs of the Western Australian capital city of Perth.
