Participant Engagement Intern

Role Title: Participant Engagement Intern

Organisation: The Raine Study

Internship Period: Semester 1 (February - May)

Location: Crawley, UWA

Role Description

About the Project
The Raine Study relies on the long-term participation of thousands of cohort members who attend appointments, complete questionnaires, and contribute to research activities. In 2024, we began the Participant Engagement Strategies Project, aimed at understanding: • Why some participants struggle to attend their scheduled appointments, and • Which engagement strategies are most effective in supporting sustained participation. The project was paused when roles changed within the team, and we are now ready to reopen it with an intern taking a key role in progressing this work. Role Overview: The intern will assist in revitalising and advancing the Participant Engagement Strategies Project. This project involves qualitative research, data exploration, communication analysis, and engagement strategy review. The intern will investigate the historical participant engagement methods used by the Raine Study, evaluate their effectiveness, and explore current barriers preventing participants from attending appointments. These insights will support the development of improved, evidence informed engagement approaches for future follow ups. This is a meaningful project that will directly influence how the Raine Study supports its 30+ year cohort.
