Marketing & Communications Intern - Capturing the Stories of Our Volunteers

Role Title: Marketing & Communications Intern - Capturing the Stories of Our Volunteers

Organisation: EdConnect

Internship Period: Semester 2 (July – October)

Location: Maylands

Role Description

Each year, hundreds of volunteers give their time to supporting learning and development of primary and secondary school students.
Approaching our 30th year (2026) we would like to capture the stories of our volunteers. This is a hands-on role, working with our team to craft interview questions, meeting volunteers face to face (where possible), finding out what drew them to volunteer with EdConnect rather than one of the many other worthy charities seeking volunteer support in Australia; and what keeps them inspired to keep giving their time. Stories might be short and sweet or long and complicated - it will depend on the volunteer, and their life journey. EdConnect's volunteers are principally over 55, with a lifetime of accumulated skills and experiences. The goal will be to capture as many stories as possible and think about how these stories could support EdConnect's 30-year celebrations, the engagement of future volunteers and lifting EdConnect's profile as a Volunteer Involving Organisation - of choice.

Organisation Mission

EdConnect Australia is a charity that trains, supports and places volunteers in local schools to improve the lives of vulnerable students. It is all about making a difference to at-risk young people, volunteers and schools. It's about giving everyone every opportunity to realise their potential - in school, in life, in society.
