Role Title: Events Coordinator Intern
Organisation: Special Olympics WA
Internship Period: Semester 2 (July – October)
Location: Perth
Special Olympics WA is seeking a motivated Events Coordinator Intern to assist with the planning and delivery of the 2025 State Games. This role is ideal for students or graduates in event management, sport and recreation, or community development who want real-world experience in inclusive sport.
You’ll work directly with the WA State Manager and a team of dedicated volunteers to help coordinate event logistics, liaise with state sporting bodies, manage athlete registrations, support communication with stakeholders, and assist with on-the-day operations.
While the primary focus will be on the State Games, you may also be deployed to support other events—such as a fundraising lunch—if needed.
This is a unique opportunity to build skills in event coordination, stakeholder engagement, and community sport while making a meaningful impact on the lives of athletes with intellectual disabilities.
Our mission is to provide inclusive training and competition across the State in a variety of sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, improve wellbeing, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship within the community.
