Role Title: Website Audit & Improvement Roadmap Intern
Organisation: Harold Hawthorne Community Centre
Internship Period: Semester 1 (February - May)
Location: Carlisle
This internship sits focuses on improving the organisation’s public-facing website. The intern will work on a Website Audit and Improvement Roadmap project to help the Centre make its WordPress website easier to use, more accessible, and more effective for the people it serves.
The intern will review key pages of the Centre’s website from the perspective of service users, carers, volunteers, job seekers, and community partners. They will assess how easy it is to find information, how clear and readable the content is, and how well the site works on mobile devices. The intern will also look at accessibility and basic search engine optimisation (SEO) to ensure the website is inclusive and easy to navigate.
Using this analysis, the intern will prepare a Website Audit Report and a prioritised Improvement Roadmap that outlines what changes should be made, how urgent they are, and how much effort they may require. While this project is focused on practical planning and continuous improvement, simple improvements and updating of the website, if within the students skillset, may be actioned.
