Organisation: Kids Are Kids!
Internship Period: Semester 2 (July – October)
Location: Rockingham
The Strong Start Program is a school-based early intervention program delivered by Kids Are Kids! in schools experiencing social and educational disadvantage. Therapists work alongside schools to identify children with developmental difficulties, provide early support and connect families with services where required. The program supports speech and language development, motor skills, regulation, school participation and teacher capacity building.
The intern will work with the Kids Are Kids! management team to review and improve the way Strong Start outcome data is collected, analysed and reported. The program currently collects pre- and post-screening information across multiple schools, using Excel-based systems to track student outcomes and program impact. Ongoing organisational priorities include refining screening pathways, improving data collection processes and strengthening outcome reporting.
The project will involve reviewing existing data collection systems, understanding current reporting processes and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency and ease of use. The intern will explore ways to streamline data entry, reduce duplication, improve data quality and create meaningful outcome measures that can be used to demonstrate program impact.
Expected outputs may include a review of current systems, recommendations for improving data collection
