Marketing & Social Media Strategy Intern

Role Title: Marketing & Social Media Strategy Intern

Organisation: Harold Hawthorne Community Centre

Internship Period: Semester 1 (February - May)

Location: Carlisle

Role Description

This internship will focus on the Centre's Engagement and Communications functions and strengthening how the organisation communicates with the community it serves. The intern will work on a strategic marketing and social media project designed to improve how the Centre presents its services, values, and community impact across digital and non-digital channels.
The intern will review the Centre’s current website, social media platforms, and other public-facing communications to understand what is working well and where improvements can be made. They will research and define key audiences such as service users, carers, volunteers, donors, and community partners, and identify how the Centre can better engage each group in an ethical, inclusive, and accessible way. Using this research, the intern will develop a Marketing Plan and Social Media Strategy that outlines key messages, audience priorities, recommended communication channels, content themes, and realistic posting approaches for a not-for-profit environment. The focus is on building practical, reusable frameworks, not managing accounts or creating daily content. The intern will primarily interact with the Community Programs and Home Support teams, and may consult with staff involved in service delivery, volunteering, and community partnerships to ensure the strategies reflect real community needs and organisational values.
