Role Title: Research Intern

Organisation: Teachers for Climate Australia Incorporated / One World Centre

Internship Period: Semester 2 (July – October)

Location: Bayswater

Role Description

Formed in 2024 following a Parliamentary Inquiry into the Response of WA Schools to Climate Change, Teachers for Climate Australia is a small group of teachers and former teachers based in Perth who are passionate about empowering young Australians (and their teachers!) to thrive in a changing climate.
We are looking for a meticulous person with a background in education to assist with a range of tasks across our projects on climate change education, including checking teaching resources (i.e. Sustainability Planners for Year K-6), promoting a new WACE-endorsed program on Climate Action and Global Goals 2025-30, and working on a range of campaigns. You will be working primarily with a team of Co-founders of Teachers for Climate: Pam Algar, a primary school teacher in Perth and author of the Sustainability Planners; Rees Barrett, retired HaSS teacher and author of the WACE-Endorsed curriculum; and Hannah von Ahlefeld, who is based in Perth and Paris, France.

Organisation Mission

We are a group of Australian educators calling for bold and urgent action to empower our communities in responding to the unfolding climate and ecological emergency.
Our vision is for all Australians to experience transformative education that is reliable, impartial, and free from the influence of corporate entities; and for Australian schools to be inspiring models of sustainability that empower young Australians to thrive in a changing climate. We believe that the role of education is to enable, empower and equip students, staff, families and the wider community to understand and engage in climate action.
