Role Title: Project 2 – Governance and Policy Review

Internship Period: Summer (November - December)
Location: Perth CBD
The intern will join Leadership Western Australia’s operations team and work directly with the Operations Manager on a key governance project. Following the Board’s recent adoption of a new governance framework, we are undertaking a comprehensive review of our organisational policies to ensure they are fit for purpose and reflect contemporary best practice.
The intern will:
Review existing policies and identify gaps, inconsistencies and areas requiring update
Research current governance, HR and policy standards relevant to the not-for-profit sector
Benchmark our policies against contemporary best practice and comparable organisations
Draft and revise policies, including consolidating overlapping documents
Help shape a more consistent, streamlined policy framework for the organisation
The Operations Manager and CEO will be the intern’s primary contacts. The intern may also engage with the wider LWA team from time to time as part of consultation on policy changes.
This role offers practical exposure to governance in a not-for-profit setting, with the opportunity to see how policy is developed, reviewed and presented for approval.
