Role Title: Healthcare worker's experience - Survey Findings Intern
Organisation: North Metropolitan Health Service
Internship Period: Summer (November - December)
Location: King Edward Memorial Hospital - Subiaco
King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) is the specialist tertiary centre for abortion care in Western Australia, seeing complex and later gestation patients. KEMH performs both medical and surgical abortions. The Pregnancy Choices and Abortion Care (PCAC) team is made up of nurses, midwives and doctors, with support from allied health services, and they provide support to women as they access abortion care at KEMH.
The Abortion Care Staff Wellbeing Survey Project is currently underway to analyse and interpret the findings of already collected data following a survey of healthcare workers involved in Abortion care at KEMH. The intern would have the experience of learning how research can be embedded within a clinical service to support staff and also to drive change. The intern would be responsible for supporting the ethics application process under the supervision of the research team, as well as contributing to the data analysis, particularly the qualitative analysis of the open-ended item in the survey. Opportunity for contribution to publication of findings may also be available.
