Role Title: Project Intern – Time to Think Program
Organisation: Department of Health
Internship Period: Summer (November - December)
Location: Royal St, East Perth WA
This internship offers an opportunity to contribute to the development and improvement of resources that support older people and their carers as they transition from hospital to aged care services through the Time to Think Program.
The intern will undertake research, stakeholder engagement, and resource development activities to support a project in partnership with Carers WA. A key focus of the placement may include researching best-practice approaches to carer information and support, identifying the needs of carers entering the Time to Think Program, and developing recommendations and draft resources to improve the carer experience.
The intern will primarily interact with the Time to Think Program team within the Department of Health and external stakeholders, including Carers WA and aged care sector representatives. The role will involve analysing information, reviewing literature and existing resources, consulting with stakeholders, and developing practical products such as information packs, guides, or improvement proposals.
This project is well suited to someone with an interest in health policy, service design, research, aged care, and stakeholder engagement, and provides an opportunity to deliver a tangible piece of work that may inform future service improvements across Western Australia.
WA Health is now governed by the Health Services Act 2016.
The new legislation represents a significant reform in health, and is designed to modernise the way our health services are structured, governed and delivered; to promote better health, better care and better value to all Western Australians.
The legislation established the Department of Health as ‘System Manager’ for WA Health, providing stewardship, guidance and support to our health services using a collection of binding Policy Frameworks in 18 key areas of health service delivery, to ensure they provide consistent, efficient and effective services into the future.
