Role Description

Our Starlight Express Rooms are vibrant, medical-free spaces designed to bring moments of joy, creativity, and connection to children in hospital. As a Starlight Intern, you'll take on a project-focused role that contributes to enhancing the experience, efficiency, and inclusivity of the Starlight Express Room.
Working alongside Captain Starlight and the team, you’ll help identify and deliver small-scale projects that make a lasting impact. Your project may focus on improving engagement, accessibility, creativity, or organisation within the room. Examples of potential projects include: Developing themed activity kits (e.g. space, animals, superheroes) that can be used for structured sessions with children of varying ages and abilities Designing inclusive game guides or activity prompts for children with diverse needs, including sensory-friendly or low-movement options Creating a digital or physical activity calendar or scheduling system to better plan and communicate daily sessions and special events Revamping the craft cupboard with a new labelling and stocktake system to improve usability and organisation Documenting best practices or creating a visual how-to guide for common room activities to support future volunteers and interns Piloting a “quiet corner” project or mindfulness-based activities for children who may be feeling overwhelmed In addition to your project work, you’ll also support the team in the daily flow of the Starlight Room – from sorting materials
