Digital Systems & Process Improvement

Role Title: Digital Systems & Process Improvement

Organisation: Harold Hawthorne Community Centre

Internship Period: Semester 2 (July – October)

Location: Carlisle

Role Description

Harold Hawthorne Community Centre is seeking a student with strong information technology, systems analysis, or business process improvement skills to review the organisation's current digital systems and administrative workflows.
As a growing not-for-profit community services organisation, many of our processes have evolved over time and now involve multiple systems, manual paperwork, duplicated data entry, and spreadsheet-based tracking. The project will identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce administrative burden, and better utilise the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and other existing platforms. The student will work alongside staff across multiple departments to understand how information flows throughout the organisation and recommend practical, sustainable improvements. Depending on the student's skills and project timeframe, recommendations may include workflow mapping, automation opportunities, SharePoint improvements, Microsoft Forms, Power Automate, Excel enhancements, or implementation guides for future development. The project is intended to produce practical recommendations and prototypes that can continue to be developed after the placement.
