Role Title: Digital Asset Management & Stakeholder Database Intern
Organisation: Commissioner for Children and Young People
Internship Period: Winter (June - July)
Location: Perth
The Commissioner for Children and Young People (CCYP) promotes and advocates for the rights, wellbeing and best interests of children and young people in Western Australia.
You will work within the Engagement and Communication team to support two key organisational projects. The first involves building a centralised digital asset management system for CCYP's media resources — including a consent register to track how images of children and young people may be used, and a usage log to ensure images are only used within the scope of consent granted. The second involves reviewing, cleaning and restructuring the organisation's stakeholder database to ensure contact records are accurate, consistently formatted and fit for purpose, and developing the data standards and processes staff need to maintain it going forward.
You will work closely with your supervisor and relevant internal staff to understand organisational needs and deliver practical, lasting improvements to both systems.
The Commissioner is the independent person who works closely with children and young people, their families, community and government to make WA a better place for 0 to 18 year-olds. In particular, the key functions of the office include:
• Advocating for all children and young people.
• Monitoring laws, policies and practices that affect the wellbeing of children and young people.
• Promoting and valuing the voice of children and young people and the positive contributions they make to our society.
• Consulting children and young people, parents, families and government and non-government organisations.
• Researching the latest trends and information that relate to children and young people.
• Inquiring on behalf of children and young people about issues relating to their wellbeing.
Using research and the other evidence available, the Commissioner seeks to positively influence legislation, policy, services and attitudes.
