Role Title: Governance and Legislative Review Intern
Organisation: City of Armadale
Internship Period: Semester 1 (February - May)
Location: Armadale
The City are preparing for the establishment of the mandated Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC). Under the new Local Government Amendment Act 2024, the ARIC will be established and structured to include an independent Chair, significantly enhancing our risk oversight and continuous improvement capability. The existing Audit Committee's ToR will be formally adopted to reflect the new ARIC requirements once the legislation is proclaimed and the revised Regulations are released.
The intern will complete preparation work for projects in the city governance remit (ward boundary review and audit risk improvement committee model). The intern will need to map out the steps, requirements and scope for implementations. The intern will also research legislation and governance relating to both and will evaluate any gaps as an implementation readiness / assurance step utilising an adapted Gateway methodology.
This internship will provide the intern with experience in stakeholder engagement, project and risk management, administration, planning and civil law.
The goal of 'Community' involves providing a range and quality of services which foster community pride, safety, and healthy lifestyles which make the City of Armadale a preferred place to live.
