Role Title: Research & Marketing Intern
Organisation: Perth Inner City Youth Service (PICYS)
Internship Period: Winter (June - July)
Location: West Perth
The intern will support the development of PICYS’ communication, engagement and community presence by strengthening the link between research, marketing and stakeholder engagement.
The intern will contribute to increasing awareness of PICYS’ purpose, services and impact by undertaking baseline research to better understand target audiences, stakeholders and current community engagement. This will include:
• Audit existing communications and identify gaps, noting that there is currently minimal marketing activity;
• Support the establishment and development of PICYS’ LinkedIn business page as a primary communication channel;
• Develop a simple, realistic marketing strategy aligned with available resources and organisational capacity;
• Create a practical, low-resource marketing plan focused on achievable actions and priorities;
• Develop key messages that clearly communicate PICYS’ purpose, services, and impact;
• Identify small, high-impact opportunities to build awareness without requiring significant budget or platforms (e.g., partnerships, community networks);
• Create basic tools such as a content plan or posting guide for LinkedIn; and
• Present clear, practical recommendations that can be sustained by the team over time.
The intern will help PICYS to strengthen its external communication, build sustainable marketing practices and identify achievable opportunities to increase community awareness, partnerships and stakeholder engagement.
At PICYS we pledge to promote and support the positive wellbeing, appreciation, active participation and voices of young people in Perth & beyond.
