Role Title: Research Intern 1: Malaria, Comorbidities and Mortality Scoping Review

You will work in the Global Disease Modelling team at The Kids, on a scoping review: "Pathways linking malaria, comorbidities, and mortality in endemic settings".
No existing synthesis maps the full set of pathways through which malaria and comorbid conditions jointly contribute to mortality. The evidence is fragmented across single-comorbidity studies (e.g. malnutrition alone, or bacterial co-infection alone) and across the biomedical, clinical, health-systems, and socioeconomic literatures.
The intern's core contribution will be screening, data extraction, synthesis, and documentation of the review process. They will also help keep a conceptual map of severe malaria pathways up to date as new evidence comes in, and may contribute to drafting. No prior malaria expertise is expected. Full training will be provided in review methods and software.
Two interns will be recruited and will work as a pair, screening independently and reconciling between them, supervised day to day by Chitra.
This is a collaborative role, not a data-entry post. Co-authorship is available to interns who meet standard authorship criteria, and there is real scope to shape how the review is framed and what it concludes. What the internship gives back in methodological skill, subject knowledge, and ownership of the output will track closely with the thought and initiative the intern brings to it.
