Project Intern: Centralised Register of Operational Processes

Role Title: Project Intern: Centralised Register of Operational Processes

Organisation: Department of Planning Lands and Heritage

Internship Period: Semester 1 (February - May)

Location: Perth

Role Description

The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage administers a range of legislation and regulations in the land use, land administration, Aboriginal and historic heritage services. The administered legislations and regulations specify processes to ensure compliance and effective governance. These legislative frameworks outline numerous operational processes that require compliance, accountability, and effective governance.
Currently, the information about these processes are dispersed across multiple teams and systems, creating challenges in accessibility and ensuring consistency, and oversight. A centralised register will provide a single source of truth for all operational processes required under administered legislation and will lead to improving transparency, efficiency, and compliance monitoring. This initiative aligns with strategic transformation goals and supports risk management and audit readiness. Project Objectives • Identify and catalogue all operational processes required under administered legislation and regulations. • Develop a centralised register that is structured, searchable, and user-friendly. • Ensure alignment with compliance obligations and departmental governance frameworks. • Create supporting documentation for ongoing maintenance and updates.

Organisation Mission

The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage brings all land use and heritage responsibilities under the one umbrella to shape the future of our cities, regions and towns.
Responsible for state level land use planning and management, and oversight of Aboriginal cultural heritage and built heritage matters, the department supports three Ministers and administers a wide range of legislation. We plan how to make best use of the State’s natural and built assets for the sustainable and responsible development of all Western Australian communities, through evidence-based research, integrated policy development and stakeholder engagement.
