Role Title: Mentoring Program Design Intern – Girls+ in Engineering
Organisation: UWA Student Equity
Internship Period: Semester 1 (February - May)
Location: UWA Crawley Campus
The Mentoring Program Design Intern will support the Girls+ in Engineering (GiE) program to design and plan a Semester 2 pilot mentoring program connecting GiE Student Ambassadors with industry partners.
Through this role, the intern will develop an understanding of the underrepresentation of women and non-binary people in engineering and STEM fields, and how targeted programs and industry engagement can support more equitable participation and pathways.
The intern will research best-practice mentoring models, work with GiE staff to develop a clear program structure and timeline, and assist with planning recruitment, selection, and evaluation processes. The role involves collaboration with GiE staff, Student Ambassadors, and industry partners, and will culminate in a practical, ready-to-implement mentoring program plan for piloting in Semester 2.
UWA is committed to continuing to widen participation and support students from diverse backgrounds in higher education. The Student Equity team sits within the Student Life portfolio, and our layered and long-term approach includes initiatives embedded across at all stages of the student life cycle. Our programs provide broad-based, early intervention outreach and an admission entry pathway for students of high potential but limited means and opportunity.
