UWA McCusker Centre for Citizenship secures partnership with YACWA to strengthen youth-sector internships

4 August, 2022

The McCusker Centre for Citizenship UWA is pleased to announce a new strategic partnership with the Youth Affairs Council of WA (YACWA), which will enable more UWA students to contribute towards organisations, projects and policies that advocate for and support young people in WA.

The McCusker Centre for Citizenship partners with over 300 community and government organisations, including over 70 of YACWA member organisations, to deliver their award-winning internship program for UWA students.

The Centre aims to foster caring, connected and socially engaged citizens who actively contribute to the wellbeing of their communities.

Since 2015, the McCusker Centre for Citizenship has seen almost 2,000 students undertake internships, including over 300 projects with YACWA member organisations, with 97% of students and organisations recommending the program to others.

We encourage you to explore recent intern stories across the youth sector, including UWA Psychology student Natasha who supported Youth Involvement Council (YIC) as a youth mentor.

“Natasha made a significant contribution during her short time with us. She slotted into the team with ease and showed great initiative to dig in and help with whatever needed doing on the day.” -YIC CEO, Vicki-Tree Stephens.
