Role description
Peel Community Legal Service is a free legal advice and advocacy service located in Mandurah. This role will provide support our legal team.
Interns with an interest in family law, consumer law and/or wills and estates will be most suited to the role.
Under the direction and supervision of a lawyer, duties will include:
• Gaining an understanding of the work of Peel Community Legal Service and the Community Legal Sector in general in WA;
• Assisting with the provision of legal information and advice during face to face consults;
• Drafting legal advice, file notes and follow up letters as requested from the legal team;
• Legal research as required from time to time;
• Accompanying our lawyers and advocate to outreach clinics and court;
• Assisting with Community Legal Education initiatives and workshops;
• Gaining an understanding of referral processes and assisting with warm referrals to other services and agencies as appropriate.
Our mission is to provide a comprehensive and accessible legal assistance and advocacy support service to the Peel Community, with a focus on assistance for low income and disadvantaged people.
