Role Title: Project Intern, Advisory Services
Organisation: Youth Affairs Council of WA (YACWA)
Internship Period: Summer (November - December)
Location: East Perth
You will be joining the Advisory Services team, who complete fee-for-service consultation work for third-party organisations, generally local governments of other not-for-profit community organisations.
You will be joining us near the end of a project we are working on with the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. We are conducting the consultation for, and then writing, the City's 2024-29 Youth Action Plan, which will set out the City is going to do over the next five years to improve the lives of young people within the Local Government Area. Local governments are responsible for things like local events, local facilities, community centres, libraries, rec centres etc.
YACWA is running the consultation for this project, meaning we are talking to as many young people and other stakeholders in Kalgoorlie as we can to get a snapshot of what life is like for young people. We do this through in person visits, but also interviews, surveys, workshops etc.
Your responsibility will primarily be to conduct both qualitative and quantitative data analysis on the consultation data that we gather. The consultation period will be finished by the time you start your internship, so you will collate all the data and turn it into summaries of trends and themes. These summaries will then inform what we recommend the City does in their Action Plan over the next five years.
The Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia (YACWA) is the peak non-government youth organisation in Western Australia. We operate primarily as a human rights organisation that seeks to address the exclusion of young people in a rapidly changing society. Our continued vision for Western Australia is one that celebrates and engages young people in all aspects of the community. Our role is to strengthen the trust, cooperation, collaboration; professionalism and voice of the non-government youth service sector to better serve the young people of Western Australia.
