Role Title: UWA Grand Challenges, Student Engagement Intern

Organisation: UWA Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Education

Internship Period: Semester 2 (July – October)

Location: UWA Campus Crawley

Role Description

Grand Challenges are deep and difficult issues, with no clear solutions, that require new ways of working across disciplines and sectors to effectively address. The UWA Grand Challenges focuses UWA's efforts on solutions to Climate Change and A More Just and Equitable World.
UWA contributes to these challenges through our education, teaching and research and our community engagement. The Grand Challenges team also provides co-curricular opportunities for UWA students to engage and to drive ongoing social and environmental impact. With 45% of people aged 16-25 experiencing climate anxiety, developing a sense of agency in UWA students is a key part of Grand Challenges remit. Partnering with various departments including Campus management and Guild, Grand Challenges will be running Sustainable Action August, a series of themed weeks and calls to action for UWA students to make meaningful changes, sustainable choices and highlight and share the positive impact that UWA researchers and students are making. This internship focuses on promoting, implementing and evaluating several key events and supporting a digital campaign, including calls to action aimed to mobilise the UWA student network.
