Role Title: Research Intern, Policy - Fire Systems Installer Regulation
Organisation: Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS)
Internship Period: Semester 2 (July – October)
Location: Cannington
This project involves researching and writing a survey on the installation of fire systems in buildings, including sprinklers, hose reels, hydrants, detection and warning systems, and fire-resistant construction. The survey will be disseminated to the building industry, to collect data on who does this work, and any non-compliance issues.
The research data will then be analysed and included in a consultation paper, to present options to regulate the people doing this work.
