Role Title: Project Intern - Area Mental Health establishment

Role Description

South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) is establishing a central area mental health (MH) directorate where all current MH services will come together. This will bring together 25 different types of services under one umbrella.
This role will assist by undertaking market research on global area MH models; reviewing literature on best practice for area MH models – public and NGO; and support the development of a change communication plan. The aim is to maximise opportunities in the changing mental health landscape; provide equitable and efficient area wide mental health services; optimise mental health expertise; develop a clear SMHS mental health strategy for the future; and improve the patient experience and access to services. The intern will work within a small team to liaising with SMHS MH senior leadership and clinical staff involved in this transition. There will also be opportunities to liaise with consumers with a lived experience. This is a significant project for SMHS and one that will require significant change management to ensure the health service and those involved transition successfully.
